We do not have a tidy family dynamic. With divorce on both sides, we have step-parents and step-siblings all over the place. Some of these relationships have come easily, some have not, and some are still existing with a “complicated” status. Yet during a recent holiday as we found ourselves around many large family dinners, a beautiful thought occurred to me, no doubt placed there by the Holy Spirit: Our family has been grafted together, just as we have been grafted into the family of God.
